Babies, Baptisms, Birthdays and Booze (Yes, I will now attempt to tie all of these together)

I'm never drinking again. Ever.

Ha, okay fine. You know me too well. I will at least be waiting until Wednesday. Wait. Tomorrow's already Tuesday? Well then this should be easy. : )

Tonight Mason and I are in recovery after a long and eventful Labor Day weekend. Let's start from the beginning...

Friday night, we headed South on 45 towards H-town after work. We are quite the little road-trippers. We are driving to some city in or around Texas nearly every other weekend. Usually to Houston since 99.5% of our friends live there and some MAJOR life event is always going on....(weddings, baby showers, half-birthdays, etc)! Eventually we will just need to move ourselves down there to save on gas - but I digress. This weekend we were not lacking in occasions to celebrate.

The main purpose for our trip was to attend the baptism for my friend Caroline's baby Scarlett, because....

I was asked to be her GODMOTHER!!!! :) So very exciting!

I'm looking forward to watching Miss Scarlett Elizabeth grow-up and love that it also means that my friendship with Caroline and her husband Trey will be a life long bond. Yep, they're stuck with me for life - I've got the Godparent certificate to prove it!
Here is my pretty god-daughter modeling the necklace I gifted her before the baptism.

This weekend also highlighted the fact that I am a complete sap. There were six families having their children baptized on Sunday and ALL of the parents and Godparents kept it together while MY Maybelline attempted to slide down my cheeks. I was doing anything to prevent breaking into the ugly cry. It wasn't a total make-up melt-down though so no worries!

So you may be wondering what the cause of today's massive hangover was if most of the weekend was spent doing church activities...

NO, I wasn't binge drinking at the baptism if that's where you think this is going.

The other cause for celebration this weekend was Mason's Mom and Dad's birthdays! They had a big back-yard fish fry bash! And apparently I felt it my duty as new daughter-in-law to taste test every concoction crafted. Including pickle juice and vodka shots. Blah - just writing that makes me want to throw up.
I was happy to oblige however and I think it was a birthday party to remember...or forget, depending on how much longer this hangover lasts!
So all in all, after a LLLLOOOONNNGGGGG first week of school  - a long weekend in Houston with friends and family was just what we needed to kick-off the fall season. Hope your Labor Day was not too laborous! *Laborous is apparently not a real world says "Blogger", but I'm in no mood to find another adjective to take it's place! Word.
